Most hemorrhoids that become thrombosed tend to be external and will appear bluish or purple in color. This type of hemorrhoid is extremely painful and needs to be treated as soon as possible. In order to find relief the hemorrhoid must be drained of blood. The recovery after this type of minor surgery can be uncomfortable
